SE3EP9:
My favorite beauty products!
[Beauty Product Clean Out Results!]

"Ship's Log, Stardate 94800.57:
I managed to stay within the payload limitations.  Let's not discuss the sound I made when I had to actually trash all of the makeup in the "won't use, or expired" pile.

Instead, I'm going to enjoy the simplicity of what is left.

Main Payload (daily makeup) and Secondary Payload (special occasion makeup)

Ah, that's better.  Now it's less overwhelming and easier to pick out my favorites.

My favorite skin products:

I'm usually a drugstore product kinda gal (I'm still learning, after all, so it's a more appropriate price point for me), but I fell in love with tucker ashley perfecting moisturizer after receiving a sample through ipsy.  It moisturizes and feels great, even on a freshly scrubbed face (no redness, irritation, or break outs!)

For my gel cream, though, it's back to the drug store.  I wanted something mega hydrating that dried dewey soft, with hyaluronic acid, but without any additional effects, like skin brightening.  Neutrogena is my go-to brand for this kind of product.

Both of these play major roles in my "scorched earth" daily skin-care routine.

My favorite make up products:

Lashes:
- Loreal Double Up Extend (builds up intensely long and thick, truly waterproof, and washes off in little tubes)

- Ardell accent lashes, 305's and Ardell dark adhesive (subtle and easy to apply, in the black case)

Lips:
- Meet Matt(e) Hughes in Adoring, a liquid matte lipstick in a deep vampy red
.
- Russet River by Burt's Bees is so pigmented, it's basically lipstick, but goes on like lip balm.

- Wicked by Jesse's Girl is an iridescent green gloss.  I love wearing it on top of a deep, vampy lip stain, where it really pops, and reminds me of poison.

- Dear Darling by Etude honestly isn't my favorite formula, (I'M MEME is, it just works better for me), but it's my favorite color of lip stain, and so I wear it much more frequently than my candy red ones.

Eyes:
- Marsk Mudcake is an iridescent chocolate green pigment that goes perfectly with chocolate or forest green pieces.

Here I'm wearing Meet Matte Hughes lipstick, and then Marsk Mudcake eyeshadow for a jester look.  In both, I have subtle accent lashes instead of mascara.

Everything feels much more organized now, and my makeup drawer is full of all hits and no misses.  Now that I've cleaned out my collection, I'm ready to go out and buy a bunch more, haha!  Just kidding, I'm only waiting on a few things: more of the same blush, and some new circle lenses (3 pair in gray, including my usual Lucky Clovers, and a free pair in Pistachio that I'm excited to try out!)

What about you, what are your favorite products, or what do you have too much of or really need to reorganize? Or do you have a collection that just keeps expanding out of control?

Until next time!  Bear out!"
This frequency will remain open for response.

  1. I've recently upgraded my skincare routine to the Asian one that seems to be so hyped up now. Not all of it is Korean or Japanese products, but I do have almost all of the 8 or so steps, and so far it's made a massive difference to my skin. It feels a lot softer than before and feels like it's moisturised a bit more evenly (I have combination skin and especially around my lips and cheeks it sometimes got quite flaky). I probably should do a general clearout of my makeup as well, but I can't bring myself to do that just yet. I'd like to think that I'm using most of what I have, but if I'm totally honest with myself, I know that's not true. However, as I don't wear makeup on a daily basis, the urge to hold onto things because I might need them feels stronger. :P

  2. Oh cool, I've only read about those routines so far! It seems like sooo many steps (I only recently learned you don't have to do every single one, every single day, haha), but it's a lot gentler on the skin than what I do, and some of my friends who are trying it are really happy with their results. I'd be curious to hear how it works out for you long term! Product clean outs are tough, I definitely need time to work up to it, and have to do it in steps (expired first, then the super hard to apply stuff, then the garish stuff, and so on) and I STILL rescued a few products from the discard pile, just to have fun with, because they were just too cute to throw away despite not being something I'd normally use and no longer having a home in the vanity.
