SE3EP11: Face Jelly!

"Ship's Log, Stardate 94838.88:
My mini skincare haul arrived!  A little face acid, some chemical exfoliants, and some light* protection from Sol's radioactivity in my favorite medium - ᕕ( ՞ 〰 ՞ )ᕗ Jelly!

*And I do mean light, but more on that later...

Pictured above are four of the five products (missing is the Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser, available locally) I purchased to try out a Korean skincare regimen.  I was excited to start using them right away, as I was replacing some pretty harsh products (buh-bye, Neutrogena Clear Pore!), and the whole idea in general seems fun.   I was also curious about the texture of the sunscreen, and how my skin would react to being covered in it all day.

My initial thoughts on the products I chose...

Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser - I initially expected it to just push my oil around, but I'll be darned if it didn't cut right through it like a champ.  I swear I can feel the salicylic acid working, too, but that might just be in my head.

COSRX Aha/Bha Clarifying Toner - Spritz on, for that fresh alien look, and wipe away excess.  The cleanser definitely feels like it washes away entirely, but using a toner afterwards does feel refreshing, and it's meant to fix my pH, so hopefully it's doing that.

COSRX Bha Blackhead Power Liquid - Easy to slap on after the toner, and it wasn't much of a pain to spend 30 minutes doing something else before the next step. It also feels a bit hydrating.

COSRX Aha 7 Whitehead Power Liquid - Also easy to apply, and lightly moisturizing.  By this second layer, though (I have read mixed reviews on washing off BHAs, and it doesn't irritate my skin to leave it on), my skin feels like it has "enough" in the moisture department.  I wake up like a plump, vodka-soaked grape.  Because of this, I'm not certain I'll ever want/need to add a cream or sleeping pack.

LOOKatMeJelly Jelly Sunscreen SPF 50 PA+++ - I love it! It goes on like a clear, moisturizing hydrogel, with a primer-like finish, and is light enough not to weigh down my peach fuzz, like some milkier/oilier products can.

*My only issue is the SFP rating. According to the reviews and research done by others, and the company's response when asked for more information, there is no way that it is SPF 50 PA +++, more like SPF 17 PA++. But since I previously wore ZERO sun protection, don't burn easily, and will eventually be layering a powder sunscreen on top of this product, I'll take it!  Just know that if a rating looks too good/high to be true, it probably is.

THE BEFORE PHOTO

Here's a shot of what my skin looks like now, brace yourself.

BEFORE!
My skin issues are mild acne, hyperpigmentation spots from acne,
an extremely oily t-zone, and thyroid-related eye-bags.

And here's a brief recap of how I'm going to be incorporating these items into my routine...

Morning Routine
Steam face - plain water
Foaming Cleanser - Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser
Toner - Cosrx Aha/bha Clarifying Treatment Toner
Eye Cream - Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel
Moisturizer/Sunscreen - LookAtMe Jelly Sunscreen

Nighttime Routine
Foaming Cleanser - Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser
Toner - Cosrx Aha/bha Clarifying Treatment Toner
Exfoliator 1 (chemical) - Cosrx Bha Blackhead Power Liquid [30 min wait]
Exfoliator 2 (chemical) - Cosrx Aha Whitehead Power Liquid

Wish me luck, hopefully I don't, you know, erupt or something.  Heh, we'll see how this goes, and I'll report back in a few weeks.  Until then, I have a few other mini hauls to cover, makeup, lenses, and a new twintail wig.

Until next time, Bear out!"
This frequency will remain open for response.
