"Ship's Log, Stardate 93874.44:
I don't understand why traditional headdresses went out of style in the first place...
Seriously. It's adorable!
but I am very glad they are making a comeback!
I never really made the "maxi pad" association. Maybe one with shinier materials that is white and pale blue might look a little like an Always, but a black or burgundy one, made with cotton lace that sets a frame of ruffles across your hair, has always looked very maidenly and doll-like to me. I can't wait to try out the black and white one once I am a little more comfortable working the solid black one into coordinates - blackxwhite is a very intimidating color scheme for me, and I'm certain I'll have to go that route to make it work.
Daily life at our new assignment has settled into a nice routine. We have one dinner left from Blue Apron this week (a salmon something) before our next Tuesday delivery. I'm extremely happy with the service, it has really motivated our lazy butts to get up and cook healthy meals, expand our menu horizons, and eliminates the need to shop for all the specific ingredients. I might finally do an unboxing and review of it when it arrives (it's a cute box with little meat drawings on it, well packed in appropriate layers and with icepacks so it can be left out a while without anything getting warm).
I've managed to grab a few snaps of the boys between cleaning house and Mr. J actively trying to thwart all photographic missions.
Brace for boys:
Don't be fooled. They are all jerks.
In other news, my old Bodyline RHS got a little refurbishing this week.
Duct tape fixes (almost) everything!
I detached the barely-holding-on bows, removed and washed the laces, and cleaned the shoes thoroughly with mild soap and a brush. I re-sealed the seams where it attaches to the foam base with E-6000 glue, and for fun (since you can't really touch up shoes like this with a leather repair kit), I covered up the worst of the scuffs on the front with duct tape cut into the shape of a cross, and filled the rest in with a little fabric paint.
I want to find some sueded/velvet tape and try the cross with that instead, but for now, they are at least wearable, I'm pretty happy with how they came out (and that I didn't need to purchase new ones, cause I'm holding out until I can get real VW!)
I ended up using both the headdress and shoes in an old-school-inspired coord:

JSK - IW, Headdress/Shoes/Tights - Bodyline, Purse - AP

Clark, you photobomber...
That about covers it for this week! I'm sure you're sick of seeing the Command Center progress until something a little more tangible is accomplished, so I'll update again once I have started on the drawer covers. Before that, I am more focused on getting a good coordinate with that Atelier Pierot bolero and just kind of enjoying the new routine of life here.
Neighbors are friendly, commutes are short, and the local Starbucks folks know us by name despite us not having been there even three times. Several friends live in the area, I've already found a carpool, and soon we'll be bringing back lolita Fridays and tiara Tuesdays! Until next time, and as always, I will leave this frequency open for response.
- Bear out!"
