"Ship's Log, Supplemental Entry:
For those who know me, and know that I actually no longer keep a traditional wish list, I wanted to clarify.
The problem I had with "Dream Dresses":
The method of going after my "Dream Dresses" wasn't working for my closet. I was acquiring them very slowly, sometimes months or a year after my style had shifted further away from the item, because I was doggedly searching for only those specific pieces. Even if I could afford a piece immediately, some were sold out, so I needed to wait for another chance. And in the meantime, I passed up similar pieces that might work just as well, if not even better for me.
The "New Wish List Criteria":
Now, rather than specific items, I have "Wish List Criteria". This new method is sort of like Pandora for clothes. When I fall in love with an item, I don't track the item per se, but rather the individual style elements that I like about that item. Then, I can use those criteria to score it, and then to discover new, comparable items.
Preferred collar types, preferred bodice types, material, art style, royal motifs, military embellishments, number of pockets, quality, texture, slight cuteness, metal buttons, and so on. The higher the score, the more likely I am to get it among other items in its category (and whether or not I purchase an item from that category depends on my budget rules).
This means I am opening myself up to not just particular releases, but also similar items, and searching for items I might like by their individual design elements. I might even break them across multiple items instead of just one, like purchasing an available JSK, a blouse, and a collar, rather than waiting around for an unavailable long sleeved OP, to accomplish a similar nun look.
Tracking what I like about items, rather than just the particular items, also helps me get a better grasp of exactly what it is a like about pieces anyway, which again helps in discovering new things I'll like from new brands. Sometimes, though, there is something you love about a particular item that just can't be matched, or even found, in any other item, and that something is usually a print - *sigh* oh, Honey Cake...
So, [Atelier Pierot Napoleon Bolero] wasn't actually on my wish list.
But [Black High Collar Super-Cropped Military Style Bolero with Gold/Bronze/Black embellishments] was.
So in reality, the "wishlist" bolero I purchased could have been any of the three following boleros.

Also, just a followup on the caucus today:
Go figure. Looks like I'll be caucusing on April 17th!
- Bear out!"
