LBC: Try A New DIY Accessory Project

"Ship's Log, Supplemental Entry:
I have never attempted the infamous beaded mini crown before.

And now I have. I give it a C-.
It could have used some dangles and beads on the bottom.

I pretty much just looked through several from google and in old magazines I have saved.  I decided that I prefer the look of those with six sides as opposed to four, and that I wanted to use beads that alternate in size to make it a little more interesting.

The gold wire I chose ended up being a bad decision (or perhaps the pearls were, depending on your perspective).  I should have chosen wire of a stiffer alloy, but with a thinner gauge.  The thickness was a bit too much for several of the beads when the wire is curved, so I couldn't use any on the bottom without them cracking.

I'll go back and fix this with a second attempt.

I connected the three tips with another piece of wire threaded through, and around. The cross's base was then pushed up through that twist.  To get the lateral part of the cross, I looped the wire around the one poking through the center.

The tiny loops on the bottom ring are for bobby pins to go through to hold it in place, or to attach a ribbon, or clear elastic string.

It was hard to capture, but the rust colored beads have a really interesting sparkle. I may add some kind of dangling charm to bring out that color a little bit more.

"I don't like this one mom, not soft like the duck hat..."

I'll be honest, it looks about as awkward on Clark as it does on me (though perhaps the additions I mentioned, and beads along the bottom ring can help with that), so it will take me a little while to figure out.  I will probably dig out Queen's Coach in ivory, or something else a little more appropriate to try and coord this.

Oh well, at least I tried one!  Hopefully the next one is better, and I really want to try out creating a black leather one like the Suppurate System crowns!

Until next time, Bear signing off!"
