Episode 14: A New Hope...
From Old Photos

"Ship's Log, Stardate 93970.2:
Ever browse super old photos of your coords?

Sometimes they aren't so flattering...
But if you've been keeping track, you might find it rather enlightening!

You'll start to see trends - what things were working for you around this or that time that you didn't even realize you were or were not doing anymore.  You'll see the denials - maybe you thought some particular thing looked great once upon a time, but upon revisiting with a better trained eye, you now understand old critique.

And you'll see yourself becoming happier and more confident in each photo (and if not, it's time to reflect on why.  Maybe you feel like you've outgrown a certain style, something is just off, or perhaps you have followed trends you don't really enjoy.  I've done some of these and needed to make changes myself.)

Anyway, here is one of the oldest photos I could find, taken by someone else (because I feel that is a truer measure of what you really look like, than a planned, angled, self-taken image).  I think it's pretty honest.

I have since sold this dress to a good friend who does it the justice it deserves.

When I first saw this photo, I thought I looked great.  Then all I could think was "trim your wig, get oil blotters, real shoes, and a better petti".  Now I just kinda enjoy it - it could have been so much worse, and that event was a lot of fun.

Things got better, bangs got cut.

Years later, same wig.

Here is another goldie oldie with Queen's Coach:

Aaaand a Queen's Coach redux:

Not perfect, but better this time.

Sometimes I like to look at progressions of how I have worn, or gotten better at wearing, particular items, and try to make each coord at least as good as, if not better, than the last one.  It ebbs and flows, but I'm hopefully trending up.

Check out your old photos, how much have you improved?  I will be leaving this frequency open for response, so do share if you have any before/afters or timeline progression photos!

- Bear out!"
