I have begun taking shortcuts on my inventory project.
BEHOLD! DO YOU SEE?
STOCK IMAGES!
Main pieces were easy. Accessories, tights, socks, headdresses, and bags are a little more difficult.
I have more of them than main pieces, and I don't have a solid white surface to photograph the more challenging pieces on, yet. So I have been using stock photos! Lolibrary has been the best resource, and I used a little google-fu to find the rest.
This saved me a lot of time and trouble! It was also convenient to be able to upload and edit photos from anywhere - like on the train or bus - since I am not tied to my closet.
| The stock images of AP and Chantilly tights were a serious time-saver! |
Now that I have a few more items imported (I am maybe 1/3 done, though my brain tends to force me to go back and re-do some items until they look perfect...), I have gone ahead and plugged in some coords I know I like, in order to start recording and planning when to re-wear them or mix them up with new items.
With all the taking-out-and-putting-away-again going on in my office (where I keep my lolita and ouji wardrobe), I did a little bit of rearranging to make myself a little less likely to knock things over. My ring wheel is no longer where it will get snagged by necklaces or in front of the light switch anymore.
I took down my closet doors, finally, and will be ordering a curtain to replace them.
Small changes, but when things are easier for me to get to, then I am more likely to use them, AND put them back away. I may need to purchase a new vertical cubby for more storage space, but I plan on doing a garage sale first, to make a little more room.
And finally, here's a fit! Sorry it's not full lolita or ouji, but it's Putumayo and not too mainstream, so I hope you like it anyway.
OP: Putumayo's Midnight Parade
Boots: Amazon
Headbows: F21 and Angelic Pretty's Lucky Key
Socks: Enchantlic Enchantilly
Bag: Juicy Couture
And here's a closeup of what I did with my hair, nothing too exciting since it's still pretty hot out and I need to keep it off my neck and face.
First, I brushed it into a high ponytail on top of my head. After that, I pulled the base of the ponytail through the hair tie one more time, just a little bit, to create the small bun loop on top. I tied a gold tipped, black velvet ribbon around that bun loop.
The loop was then fanned out into that big half donut shape. I used two bobby pins to keep the sides of it fanned out, and down against my scalp, so it's nice and large.
Then I took the tail end of the ponytail, hanging in the front, and twisted it back up to make faux bangs, which are held in place with a gold clip. Lastly, I clipped in the hair bow in the back, little mermaid style.

I like the idea of using stock photos - I probably would've felt like I have to photograph everything, but as long as the stock photo shows off the item's true colour, that's a great idea! :)
